DARA says “I’m in!” after Eurovision doubts – and Bulgaria breathes again

After 48 hours of uncertainty, insomnia, and unsolicited opinions from all corners of the internet, Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2026 representative DARA has made her choice. And it’s the one her fans were hoping for: she’s staying in the game.
The singer confirmed this afternoon on her social media that, despite seriously considering a withdrawal, she will proudly take the stage in Vienna this May.
“No one deserves a public lynching for following their path.”
Let’s rewind. DARA won the Bulgarian selection just days ago. Cue the backlash: conspiracy theories, trolls with too much free time, and a string of industry side-eyes. It was enough to make anyone question their life choices – and DARA nearly did.
“Instead of rejoicing and experiencing the moment of this victory… I had several sleepless nights.”
“The hatred on social media didn’t just affect me – it shook me and worried me.”
Her full statement reads more like a page from a therapist’s notebook than your average PR release – and that’s exactly why it hit home.
She spoke about resilience, burnout, and the very human cost of public scrutiny:
“There is no stage, no title, no expectation that is worth more than your inner peace.”
But in the end, love won out. Thousands of messages poured in – from fans, friends, fellow artists – and they reminded her of what really matters.
“My going to Eurovision is not just for me. If I manage to perform worthily – then we all, Bulgaria, will shine on the map.”
Eyes on Vienna… but first, another final
Before she heads off to conquer the continent, DARA has one more hurdle: the final night of Natsionalnata Selektsiya 2026, on 28 February, where she’ll perform three brand new songs. A mix of public voting and a ten-member jury will decide which one becomes Bulgaria’s official entry for Eurovision.
And judging by her determination, she’s not just going – she’s going all in.
