Dami Out, Baby In: Australia’s Eurovision Queen Bows Out With A Lullaby (And a Surprise Collab!)

Well, that’s one rumour we can now file under “Not happening, darling.”
Dami Im, the woman who gave Australia its glittering Eurovision silver medal back in 2016, has just crushed hopes of a glorious comeback in Vienna 2026. And she did it in the most Dami way possible — with a wink, a smile, and a baby in her arms.
Taking to social media in a move that left Eurofans clutching their pearls, Dami posted:
“Spoiler alert… you can rule me out 😂 I’ve got my hands full with my baby Rory…”
That’s right — no Eurovision, but plenty of nappies. Since giving birth to her son Rory last year, Dami’s been on full-time mum duty, and let’s be honest, that’s a stage no one can upstage.
Sound of Silence? Not Quite…
Now, just because she’s skipping the contest doesn’t mean she’s ghosting us completely. In fact, Dami’s marking the 10-year anniversary of her Eurovision classic Sound of Silence with a reimagined version featuring none other than Electric Fields.
“I will be celebrating my 10 year Eurovision anniversary with a very special release of Sound of Silencefeaturing the phenomenal Electric Fields,” Dami announced, confirming the track will land on 11 March — exactly a decade after her original took Europe by storm.
It’s cool. It’s vocals. It’s nostalgia with synth. And we’re here for it.
So… Who Will Fly the Flag for Oz?
With Dami out of the running, the question now is: who’s brave enough to step into those (very stylish) shoes?
Dami herself cheekily suggested Delta Goodrem as her top pick, and honestly, who wouldn’t want Australia’s pop empress belting it out under Vienna’s chandeliers?
An official announcement is expected soon, but until then, speculation is swirling like a wind machine on full blast. (Hi, Sheldon Riley? Jessica Mauboy? Tones and I? Are you lurking?)
