France Says “Regarde!”: Monroe Is Heading to Eurovision 2026

France has done that very French thing where it doesn’t so much announce a Eurovision act as quietly place it on the table, nod once, and expect everyone to understand that this is now the plan. So here we are: Monroe has been internally selected to represent France at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, with a song titled “Regarde!”. And yes, the song reveal is being kept for later, because suspense is apparently a national sport.
Internal selection again, because France likes its chaos curated
France Télévisions is sticking with the internal route, choosing both the artist and the song behind closed doors, the same approach it’s used since 2023 after a run of televised national finals from 2018 to 2022.
It’s a strategy that screams, “We’ve tried public meltdowns, thank you. We’re now selecting in peace, with snacks.”
Who is Monroe, then? Not exactly your average ‘newcomer’
Monroe was born in Utah to a French mother and an American father, which already gives her that slightly cinematic “two worlds, one spotlight” backstory Eurovision loves.
She broke through in 2024 after winning Prodiges on France 2, immediately clocked by viewers for an operatic voice that doesn’t do subtle, doesn’t do small, and definitely doesn’t do “background music while you unload the dishwasher.”
Since that win, she’s released a debut album and is heading out on tour across France this spring, which is a handy way to build confidence and live chops before Eurovision rehearsal week turns everyone into a slightly haunted version of themselves.
“Regarde!”: a title that practically demands a moment
The song is called “Regarde!” (yes, with the exclamation mark energy), and while France hasn’t revealed the track yet, the title alone suggests they’re going for something direct, theatrical, and camera-friendly.
Eurovision is a contest where you get three minutes to make Europe pay attention, and “Regarde!” is basically France yelling, “Eyes here, darlings.”
The pressure is real, because Louane left France in a good place
France is coming off Louane’s 7th place finish at Eurovision 2025 with “Maman”, scoring 230 points.
So Monroe isn’t walking into a “please just qualify” mission. She’s walking into a “keep France classy and competitive” mission, which is a different flavour of terrifying.
If France nails the staging and doesn’t let the moment get swallowed by Vienna’s inevitable visual arms race, this could be a seriously smart choice: big voice, clean strategy, and a title that begs for a dramatic reveal.
